Our History

The Good Shepherd Cat Sanctuary began in 1994 as The Family Cat.  Originally offering boarding, grooming, and pet supplies the services evolved to include an adoption center.  Soon to follow was our feral rescue facility - a 15 acre property which we own. It was our adoption center and then the growing need for rescue that grew to comprise the largest portion of our organization. The Good Shepherd Cat Sanctuary was established as a non profit, 501c3, no kill cat rescue and shelter specializing in feral cat rescue, treatment of injured, abused, and abandoned cats, and adoption services. We have been involved in animal rescue for over 14 years now.  We are proud to announce that we have facilitated the adoptions of over 8,500 cats and kittens over the years.

Ways You Can Help:

• Every dollar helps! Our organization operates by the kindness of others.  Your contribution is fully tax deductible as we are a 501c3 charitable organization.  We are also part of the Combined Federal Campaign:Our CFC # is 74707

• Our kitties  look forward to their morning canned food.  We use Friskies, Nine Lives, and Fancy Feast.  Food contributions are appreciated by all!

• We use hundreds of paper plates every week.  9" paper plates are always needed.

• Housekeeping:  30 gallon trash bags, bleach, and spray cleaners are always in demand.

• Creature Comforts:  kitty beds, kitty cubbies, towels, linens and such make our residents happy and comfortable.
